I Hate My Clothes!

Did you ever just look into your closet and say: “Ughh! I hate everything in there and want to just get rid of it all!” How about when you go shopping and you say to yourself: “Oh this is cute and if I was younger (or thinner or working) I would get it, but I’m not so forget it!” Well, that has happened to me a LOT lately.

Full disclosure, this fall brought some dramatic changes to our household. Hurrican Ida completely destroyed the first floor of our home causing a whole lot of chaos in our lives. And I received an offer for my dream job. I was not looking to go back to work. In fact, I was very happy working on my blogs, gardens and enjoying time with my family and friends. But when the opportunity came along to be the Executive Director of an animal therapy organization, I couldn’t say no.

But now I had to pivot with clothes once again. There had to be casual clothes for working with the animals. But as an Executive Director whose job is networking and fundraising you have to fit into that world too. Add to the fact clothing styles have gotten much more casual since the pandemic and I have gotten older. I thought I had to redefine my style but what would that be? I just couldn’t figure it out. I had “Clothes Block”.

So I started reading all the articles I could on social media, looking at outfits on Pinterest and checking out people when I was out and about. From those adventures I realized I liked the style that I was and really didn’t need to change it. Maybe I needed to tweak it and get rid of some outdated outfits even though they still were “good pieces”. But a radical change was not necessary even from Retirement Chic.

So I am off to do some shopping and scouting this afternoon. I will be sure to share what I find out.
