But I Don’t Go Anywhere
Throw on a work jacket with a necklace and shoes and you are stylish and comfortable.
That headline is often the excuse as to why someone does not want to get “dressed up”. But think about it - you do go places. Maybe not the way you did when you were working, but every day presents opportunities to visit the real world. Now of course during the pandemic our normal activities have been curtailed, but hopefully soon our world will expand.
So what are you going to do today? Visit the grocery store? Go help out at the food pantry? Attend your grandchild’s outdoor soccer game? All provide you with an opportunity to try out your new RetirementChic style.
For example, last Saturday my goddaughter received an award in her karate class. Even though I knew I had to stand outside to watch the event, I was excited to have a place to go and to try out some fun “outside clothes”. And believe it or not, it energized me to plan something to wear because I was “going somewhere”.
Jeans and a white tee shirt can be elevated with just a jacket, necklace and fun bag.
So this week, when you go somewhere, plan your outfit as if you were going to a special meeting. See how you feel and the reactions you get. You might make someone’s day - but you will especially make your own.
